I always heard the advices to get filters only from either Hoya or B+W.
I have a Canon EF-S 18-55mm IS kit lens and I am interested to buy a CPL filter to have a try. I found that some off-brand filters cost only ~$5, Canon ~$15, and Hoy $25 in ebay. (All without anti-reflection coatings.) Can only tell me why I should spend $20 more to get one from Hoya (or B+W)? Is it because that they are built from better materials or because they have better quality control? Note that none have antireflection coatings, so flare should be a problem to all of them (including Hoya). Thanks!! [2010/01/11]

I have an XSI w/ kit lens and also a 80-200mm 4.5/f lens.
I'm still trying to determine if I like the 80-200mm, as it doesn't have IS (it was a gift).
However, I just shoot for fun, and a lot of my shots are indoor shots / portraits..ect. What is the most affordable, yet must have lens?
What is a good 50mm lens?
My price range for my next lens will be less than $500.
Preferably $200-300.
Any suggestions.
Also, dumb question, but can someone describe to me the difference in a 50mm lens compared to my 18-55mm IS kit lens? [2010/01/12]

Hello Everybody,
this is my first post on this forum.
I plan to buy just one lense for portrait.
I have at the moment a eos 1V and eos 1D mark I (4.2 millions pixels)
I plan to buy at the end of this year a full frame like 1dsmark II or III or 5dmark II ...
my wish is to be able to print A0, A1 y A2 at the best quality posible and I really love saturated, vivid colors and max details of the skin.
Everybody seems to say that the 135L is the best but all the photos post on the web I have seen seem to be very soft sharpness, not so many details of the skin...
I really like photo rendering quality like this :

So I've had my computer for a little over a year and a half now, custom built. I have managed to get together some money and am looking to upgrade my video card to a newer one, and was wondering whether my current power supply would still handle it, or whether I will need to purchase a new one too.
My current specs are:
CPU: 2.4Ghz Intel Quad Core #Q6600
Motherboard: Gigabyte LGA775
RAM: Corsair 2x 2GB DDR2-800
Video Card: Gigabyte 8800GT 512MB
Power Supply: Highpower (HPC500-G12S) 500W
HDD: 1x Western Digital 500GB and 1x Western Digital 1TB

I'm looking to get a Gigabyte GTX275 896MB Video Card. Would my current power supply still be able to power everything or should I really look at upgrading that too? and if so what should I upgrade to? Preferably something not too expensive though. [2010/01/13]

Hi
i read in a lot of forum , Tamron 28-75 F2.8 is a great lens
i read the optics quaility is superb like the canon ef 24-70 f2.8L and the tamron can deliver the same image quality
well i'm sceptical, doubtful about what i did read
i can't rent a Tamron 28-75 F2.8 because my reseller has every lens (canon , sigma , tokina , tamron , zeiss ....for canon eos but this one
well is really so great this lens , is like the canon 24-70 2.8 , i'm talking about optic/image quality/contrast and af not built quality
thanks [2010/01/15]

It’s so wonderful to see such a group with people who are so
impassioned about Burn Fat. People just don’t understand how really
important is to Burn Fat.
That’s why we should make sure that such the right info is available
to anyone.
I truly believe that by reading it, others will be able to gain some
